Rustic Canyon Burger And Beer Mondays

by Feast, March 1, 2010

Rustic Canyon executive chef Evan Funke already built a reputation for producing one of the city’s best burgers, combining Niman Ranch beef with Gruyere, onion fondue, bread and butter pickles and herb remoulade. Apparently that wasn’t good enough, as February 22 marked the return of “Burger and Beer Mondays.” In addition to the restaurant’s signature burger, expect two different specialty burgers each Monday, with an artisan beer pairing from Funke and bar manager Donan Whelan. So far they matched a Bolognese Burger with ragu, burrata and arugula with Castelain Blonde or Unibroue Blanche de Chambly. The Breakfast Burger is another option, topped with fried egg, confit bacon, hash browns and cheddar. Possible pairings consist of Green Flash West Coast IPA, Unibroue Fin du Monde or Craftsman 1903. Each specialty burger costs $18 and comes with fries. The original burger runs $16. Beer's extra.
